Not just for its iconic Chocolate Hills, lush forests, and white beaches, but also for the food and its culinary delights. I’ve found that the island is a paradise for food lovers like me. From traditional Filipino dishes to international cuisine, health-conscious options, and unique dining experiences, Bohol has it all. In this article, I will share some of my favorite restaurants in the island, so you can enjoy the delicious food this beautiful island has to offer on your next trip to Bohol.
What’s the best restaurant in Bohol Island?
It depends on you. My answer may be a cliche, but I think it’s generally true. The best restaurant, or food, for that matter will largely depend on your taste and preference. Having said that. I listed some, if not all, of the restaurants that make our visit in Bohol more fun and memorable.
Traditional Filipino Cuisine
There’s something about Filipino cuisine that always brings me back to my roots. It’s a mix of indigenous, Spanish, Chinese, and American influences, and includes a wide variety of dishes. Here are some of my favorite spots in Bohol to enjoy traditional Filipino cuisine.
Gerarda’s Restaurant
Gerarda’s is a family-owned restaurant in Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol. I remember the first time I visited Gerarda’s, I was immediately charmed by the beautifully restored ancestral home that houses the restaurant. The ambiance adds to the dining experience, making it even more special. And the food? Absolutely delicious. They serve traditional Filipino dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Loboc River Cruise
One of the most memorable experiences I had in Bohol was the Loboc River Cruise. It’s a unique dining experience that combines sightseeing with delicious food. It’s a buffet so you will just be give a plate, which I usually turn into a platter of everything. And I must say. I really enjoy their boxed fruit juice, I forget the name right now.
I remember sitting on the boat, enjoying a buffet lunch of Filipino dishes while cruising along the scenic Loboc River. There was live music and entertainment on board, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Bohol Bee Farm
The Bohol Bee Farm is not just a working bee farm, but also a resort and restaurant. I was fascinated by the organic farming and beekeeping practices there. I do hydroponics by the way. The restaurant serves organic food, much of which is grown on the farm itself. If you’re in to organic foods, this is the perfect place for you.
I particularly enjoyed the homemade ice cream and other desserts made with honey from the farm. Don’t worry if you missed it, I saw some stalls in Alona beach selling Bohol Bee Farm’s ice cream.

The Buzzz Cafe
The Buzzz Cafe is the restaurant of the Bohol Bee Farm. There are several branches throughout Bohol, including one in Tagbilaran City and one on Alona Beach in Panglao. I love the relaxed and laid-back vibe of the cafe. They serve a variety of dishes made with organic ingredients, including salads, sandwiches, pasta, and desserts.

Cafe Lawis
Cafe Lawis, located in the town of Dauis, is another favorite of mine. It’s just a short drive from Tagbilaran City and is housed in a beautifully restored ancestral home. The cafe serves a variety of Filipino and international dishes, including pasta, sandwiches, rice meals, and desserts. I enjoyed sitting on the veranda, enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, while taking in the view of the sea.

TNTS Boodle Fight & Seafood House
TNTS Boodle Fight & Seafood House in Tagbilaran City is a must-visit for seafood lovers. A boodle fight is a Filipino dining tradition where food is laid out on banana leaves and diners eat with their hands. And they serve fresh seafood in their boodle fight. The first time I tried a boodle fight, it was a fun and interactive dining experience. The restaurant serves a variety of seafood, grilled meats, and vegetables.

Momo Beach House is a boutique resort located on the quiet Momo Beach in Panglao. The resort has a restaurant that serves a variety of international dishes, including pasta, sandwiches, and seafood. I enjoyed sitting on the beach, enjoying a plate of pasta while watching the sunset. It was very relaxing.

Giuseppe Pizzeria & Sicilian Roast is an Italian restaurant located in Panglao. I am a big fan of Italian food, and Giuseppe’s did not disappoint. The pizzas, pasta, and roasted meats were all delicious. The menu also includes a selection of Italian wines and desserts. Is this the best Italian restaurant in the island? You be the judge.

The Mist Restaurant
The Mist Restaurant offers a mix of Filipino and international dishes, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We tried their seafood platter, which included prawns, squid, and fish. I think this was an Asian cuisine.
The menu also includes a variety of meat dishes, vegetarian options, and delicious desserts. What I loved most about The Mist Restaurant, besides the delicious food, was the ambiance. The restaurant is designed with traditional Filipino architecture, with nipa roofs and bamboo furniture. The large windows offer stunning views of the Loboc River and the surrounding forest. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Bohol. But be sure to come early as there’s always a long line during peak hours.
