If you’ve read a couple of my blogs, you would know Bohol is close to my heart. Not just for its iconic Chocolate Hills, lush forests, and white beaches, but also for the food and its culinary delights. I’ve found that the island is a paradise for food lovers like me. From traditional Filipino dishes to international cuisine, health-conscious options, and unique dining experiences, Bohol has it all. In this article, I will share some of my favorite restaurants in the island, so you can enjoy the delicious food this beautiful island has to offer on your next trip to Bohol.

What’s the best restaurant in Bohol Island?

It depends on you. My answer may be a cliche, but I think it’s generally true. The best restaurant, or food, for that matter will largely depend on your taste and preference. Having said that. I listed some, if not all, of the restaurants that make our visit in Bohol more fun and memorable.

Traditional Filipino Cuisine

There’s something about Filipino cuisine that always brings me back to my roots. It’s a mix of indigenous, Spanish, Chinese, and American influences, and includes a wide variety of dishes. Here are some of my favorite spots in Bohol to enjoy traditional Filipino cuisine.

Gerarda’s Restaurant

Gerarda’s is a family-owned restaurant in Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol. I remember the first time I visited Gerarda’s, I was immediately charmed by the beautifully restored ancestral home that houses the restaurant. The ambiance adds to the dining experience, making it even more special. And the food? Absolutely delicious. They serve traditional Filipino dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

It’s a buffet so you will just be give a plate, which I usually turn into a platter of everything. And I must say. I really enjoy their boxed fruit juice, I forget the name right now.

I remember sitting on the boat, enjoying a buffet lunch of Filipino dishes while cruising along the scenic Loboc River. There was live music and entertainment on board, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The restaurant serves organic food, much of which is grown on the farm itself. If you’re in to organic foods, this is the perfect place for you.

I particularly enjoyed the homemade ice cream and other desserts made with honey from the farm. Don’t worry if you missed it, I saw some stalls in Alona beach selling Bohol Bee Farm’s ice cream.
